REVENUE AND COST ANALYSIS OF NICKEL MINING BY CONTRACTOR PT XYZ

This study aims to analyze revenue and cost differences between plans, estimates, and realizations, assess operational efficiency, and identify the causes of potential losses at PT XYZ, a nickel mining contractor company. Secondary data in the form of material production and operating costs were analyzed using the cost variance method to see discrepancies between plans, estimates, and realizations. The results showed significant differences between plan, estimate, and realization, with realized costs often exceeding both plan and estimate, especially in the fuel and equipment maintenance components. Cost efficiencies were achieved in some months when production of high-value materials, such as LGL and HGL, met or exceeded targets, but overall, the company faced challenges in managing fuel efficiency and equipment maintenance. The main causes of potential losses include low actual production, inefficient use of fuel as evidenced by the fuel ratio of overburden material that is always higher than the contractual agreement, no tariff for quarry material extraction, and high fuel and equipment maintenance costs. This study suggests the need for improved cost management, especially in fuel efficiency and equipment maintenance, optimizing preventive maintenance programs to improve the company's operational performance, and using dashboards to control costs and revenues.
