Summary: | Remote healthcare services, including remote patient monitoring and rapid disease
detection, offer benefits such as early disease detection, continuous monitoring, and
cost reduction. One of the remote patient monitoring systems is fall detection for
the elderly in nursing homes. RFID-based systems, particularly passive tags, have
the advantage of requiring minimal maintenance and no dedicated power source,
although they still have limitations in detection range. An RFID-based fall detection
system can function by embedding passive RFID tags into the clothing of patients
or elderly individuals, enabling remote fall monitoring. In its implementation, this
system requires software integration to facilitate communication between devices
and the transmission of information to caregivers. The software developed is a
mobile application using the waterfall methodology to ensure each stage produces
the desired outputs. Software requirements were identified using information
available from the market and related literature on fall detection software for the
elderly. To verify the software's functionality, tests were conducted on all functional
and non-functional requirements. |
