However, the increase in commodity flows poses logistical challenges due to dependence on a single mode of transportasiation and suboptimal infrastructure. The implementation of multimodal transportasiation systems and infrastructure development are solutions to improve logistics efficiency. This study aims to evaluate the impact of implementing a multimodal transportasiation system in the industrial areas around the Ports of Belawan and Kuala Tanjung. This study analyzes the tendency of industries to switch from single to multimodal modes of transportasiation, predicts the increase in container flows, evaluates the capacity of existing infrastructure, and identifies additional infrastructure needs. The results show that the industry still tends to use a single mode of transportasiation, but the application of multimodal can improve logistics efficiency and effectiveness by reducing costs, accelerating delivery time, and ensuring the safety of goods. Container flow projections show an increase, so additional infrastructure is needed such as reach stackers, container truck , and train sets at the Sei Mangkei Dry Port. Overall, the implementation of multimodal has a positive impact on the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of logistics in The Greater Medan region. text |
