The port is equipped with modern facilities capable of accommodating large ships and supporting large-scale loading and unloading activities. The planned depth of Makassar New Port (MNP) is 15 meters (LWS), allowing the port to host large vessels, including post-panamax container ships. This depth is expected to boost the port’s operational capacity and efficiency, positioning MNP as a key maritime hub in eastern Indonesia and contributing to increased international trade flows. The ships using the port have a draft of 13.5 meters, while the water depth at the port ranges between 6 to 15 meters. Therefore, dredging is required to deepen the waters at Makassar New Port. The designed navigation channel is 287 meters wide, while the turning basin has a diameter of 570 meters. After calculations, the seabed depth is confirmed to be 15 meters with a slope of 25° from the horizontal line. Based on the volume calculation using the cross-section method, the total dredging volume is estimated to be 1,551,511.13 m³. The dredged material will be allocated to a dumping area following legal regulations. The dredging work will be executed under three scenarios involving three vessels: TSHD King Athur 8, TSHD King Richard 8, and TSHD Shoreway, with respective work durations of 147, 239, and 465 working days. The cost estimates for the dredging operations are Rp276,141,455,673 (approximately Rp177,983/m³), Rp447,246,447,799 (approximately Rp288,265/m³), and Rp296,101,527,942 (approximately Rp190,847/m³). text
