REDESIGN OF LOWER EXTREMITY REHABILITATION ASSISTIVE DEVICES AS HOME-BASED REHABILITATION TECHNOLOGY

Patients who experience paralysis of their movement organs, such as post-stroke patients, need regular rehabilitation so that their ability to move can return. Rehabilitation is usually carried out in a hospital or rehabilitation center with the help of a doctor or therapist. However, this is a p...

Rehabilitation is usually carried out in a hospital or rehabilitation center with the help of a doctor or therapist. However, this is a problem for patients who have limitations, such as limited rehabilitation locations, transportation, therapy, assistance, or costs. In one of the Biomechanics Laboratory studies at the Bandung Institute of Technology, a home-based lower extremity rehabilitation tool called the Rehab-bot machine was developed. In this research, a redesign was carried out to overcome the problems found in the Rehab-bot machine.. The research began with observing the prototype to determine development parameters and design parameters. Based on the evaluation results, product development focuses on increasing comfort, functional aspects, and suitability of the range of motion of the trunk and legs. Then tests were carried out on comfort, functional aspects, and suitability of the angular range of movement of the trunk and legs using the optical motion capture (MoCap) method. The final results of the research will contain a questionnaire for users of the Rehab-bot machine which shows that patient comfort aspects are met, calculation analysis, simulation and testing using the MoCap method to see the achievement of functional aspects and the achievement of harmony in the range of motion of the trunk and legs. text
