A STUDY OF THE TRADITIONAL VILLAGE OF CIREUNDEU FROM MOBILITY PERSPECTIVE

Mobility has emerged as a new perspective in social science that critiques the imaginative geographical boundaries that create spatial boundaries as a location for social processes that are seen as 'stable', resulting in a 'static' social science bound to space. To date, mobility...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/86724 Mobility has emerged as a new perspective in social science that critiques the imaginative geographical boundaries that create spatial boundaries as a location for social processes that are seen as 'stable', resulting in a 'static' social science bound to space. To date, mobility literature is still developing and discussing different frameworks or methodologies to describe the phenomenon of mobility. However, the growing literature on mobility has struggled to explain the relationship between physical 'spatial' mobility and social mobility. Therefore, in response to the theoretical problems in the new mobility paradigm, this research aims to address these problems by using an actor-network theory approach. This enrichment is tested through an empirical case by observing the mobility patterns that occur in Kampung Adat Cireundeu. The case selection is based on the existence of various indigenous literature discussed through the mobility perspective, which is often related to the spatial approach. Therefore, this empirical study is relevant and interesting to discuss from a mobility perspective. In this study, data collection was through interviews, observations and secondary data. There is a mobility pattern of Cireundeu Traditional Village with a series of coexistence and succession patterns related to territory construction. This is shown by the intensity of "localizing" and "relatively scaling" mobility patterns carried out by various human - non-human chords in Kampung Adat Cireundeu. Furthermore, this research shows that Kampung Adat Cireundeu is formed from the process of collecting statements, namely the interaction and negotiation of human-non-human actors in a wider network. The results show the discussion of physical 'spatial' mobility and social mobility relationally through the concept of association in providing theoretical contributions to the perspective of mobility through the ANT approach. In addition, this research also provides practical enrichment for empirical cases to understand the dynamics of mobility in maintaining the sustainability of territorial construction in the phenomenon of Kampung Adat Cireundeu. text
