Summary: | This research discusses the design of a street vendor facility in the Gelap Nyawang
area of Bandung City, focusing on the integration of community participation
aspects including street vendors, local residents and consumers, and its compliance
with the City Government's regulation on the arrangement and development of
street vendors, by applying Placemaking theory and stakeholder participation
methods in the process. Street vendors play an important role in the local economy,
providing access to a wide range of goods and services in the Dark Nyawang Area
of Bandung City, from culinary delights to clothing and appliances, and creating
valuable centers of social activity. Nonetheless, street vendors in their daily
activities often operate individually and do not comply with regulations, especially
regarding licensing, location, and an unorganized layout that is not in accordance
with the regulations set by the Government in creating a good and sustainable
urban layout environment.
This research involves analyzing the impact of street vendors, who are diverse in
their types of business, on the physical and social environment in the area of Jl.
Gelap Nyawang, referring to methods that view the public environment as a space
shaped by and for society. In addition, this thesis considers various other factors of
concern, such as from the City Government regarding aspects of licensing, layout,
and regulations that affect street vendors operating in various economic sectors,
their influence on surrounding residents, and the impact they have on the target
consumers of the street vendors.
Through a design method that involves every stakeholder, this approach aims to
create a solution that combines the interests of street vendors, the needs of
consumers and residents around the area as well as the vision of Placemaking in
creating a good public space, which is then harmonized with City Government
policies that already apply in the Gelap Nyawang area. The Placemaking
parameters used include several variables including Sociability (Infrastructure),
Access & Linkages (Accessibility), Comfort & Images (Spatial Layout), Uses &
Activities (Activities). Which is then used as a reference in finding discrepancies
between the findings and expectations of each party in the Nyawang Dark Area,
Bandung City, which can then be described and then processed in creating good
and inclusive public spaces in the future.
The end result is expected to provide practical guidance for designers, policy
makers, and the community in improving the quality of the environment in the Dark
Nyawang Area, as well as addressing issues of concern to the city government, so
as to realize harmony between economic interests, urban planning, and the concept
of Placemaking in building a more inclusive, sustainable, and attractive
environment. |
