Abstract: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The development of a country requires the role and participation of its people. In Indonesia converse Zakat as one of ways people can take to participate and to support the countrys development. However, zakat should be administered as efficient and effective as possible to empower Mustahiks (the receivers of Zakat). These already empowered Mustahiks are then expected in turn to be a new Muzakki (Zakat contributors) which then empowers other Mustahiks. This is expected to reduce the number of people living in and below poverty. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> To manage Zakat efficiently requires a trustworthy and professional institution of Zakat collector and distributor (Lembaga Amil Zakat) in order for the collected Zakat to be appropriately directed towards the needy and utilized maximally to empower them and the society. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Of many such types of institutions, LAZ DPU DT has attracted the attention of the writer. DPU Daarut Tauhiid as one of Lembaga Amil Zakat Nasional (National Institution of Zakat Collector and Distributor) has been focusing the distribution of part of Zakat they collect to help empower their Mustahiks through their Misykat program. This program is focused on distributing productive Zakat to develop the economic productivity of its receivers. This program has been developed as the institutions real contribution to the development of the country. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This research is geared towards investigating the influences of Misykat program on increasing the economic welfare of Mustahiks which are the receivers of the Zakat with productive expenses. To validate the result of the research, observation and interview have been conducted. The respondents of this research are the members of Misykat program of LAZ DPU DT. The respondents live in Bandung, West Java. The sample taken was 50 respondents of members of Misykat program, 2006 period. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Wilcoxon signed rank test has been used to test the data of earning, profits, and income per capita of the respondents before and after the Misykat program. The result of the test showed that almost all members of Misykat program experience the increase in their earning, profits and income per capita. The research found that Misykat program has significantly influenced the increase of economic welfare of Mustahik.
