Description
Summary:Diesel generator is a device that functions as a power generator on offshore barges (swamp barges). Diesel generators consist of several subsystems such as the intake system, lubrication system, fueling system, cooling system, exhaust system, and electrical system. The electrical subsystem has the highest RPN value, which consists of several components such as alternator, battery, electric starter, governor, automatic voltage regulator, and control panel. The higher the operational hours, the greater the potential for damage to the diesel generator. Therefore, an analysis is needed to identify critical components, understand the causes of failure, and assess the impact of failure on system performance. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a systematic method used to identify and prioritize potential failure modes in a system by calculating the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The results of the calculation and analysis using the FMEA method, the alternator is the component that has the highest RPN value that causes diesel generator failure with an RPN score of 375 followed by the control panel with an RPN score of 325. The calculation of reliability uses an exponential distribution with the lowest reliability value on the alternator belt of 0.7803476 and the indicator lamp of 0.7184294, this indicates that these components have a higher chance of failure than other components in the system.
