The electrical system in the Batam-Bintan region faces unique challenges in
accommodating the penetration of Solar Power Plants (PLTS). This study aims to
analyze the vulnerabilities of the electrical system in the region by considering five
key indicators: system inertia, system ramp rate, technical minimum loading,
system strength index, and system reserve margin. The research was conducted
through simulations using power system analysis software to evaluate the impact
of PLTS penetration on the system's stability, reliability, and operational flexibility.
The analysis results show that PLTS penetration has a significant impact on system
inertia dynamics, which affects the initial frequency response. Additionally, the
system ramp rate shows an increased need for adjustments to accommodate PLTS
power fluctuations. The technical minimum loading of conventional power plants
becomes a critical concern as it influences operational efficiency. The system
strength index also indicates a decline in some high-penetration scenarios,
potentially affecting voltage stability. On the other hand, the system reserve margin
exhibits changes depending on load patterns and the contribution of PLTS power.
This study provides strategic recommendations for managing PLTS penetration
through enhanced system reserve capacity, the development of energy storage
technologies, and the optimization of power plant operation settings. With this
approach, the Batam-Bintan electrical system is expected to integrate PLTS
sustainably without compromising system reliability and stability |
