South Sumatra Basin is one of the basins that has been explored for years, this basin has been explored since end of 19th century and has produced more than 2.1 billion barrels of oil and 2.3 trillion cubic-feet of gas. This research will analyze the potential for hydrocarbon accumulation in Airbenakat Formation, Muara Enim Area, South Palembang Subbasin. In this area, the presence of high gas readings at shallow depths is considered as a biogenic gas that has the potential to become a shallow gas hazard. Using seven well data, an analysis of the reservoir characteristics of Airbenakat Formation was conducted to obtain reservoir property parameters such as porosity and hydrocarbon saturation, an analysis of the depositional environment supported by 2D seismic data from three different vintage. From the seismic data, an interpretation of top formation horizon is conducted to produce a depth structural map. From laboratory analysis reports, petroleum system analysis can be conducted to determine the source rock and modeling to determine the time of hydrocarbon migration. The reservoir characteristics of Airbenakat Formation are sandstone containing glauconite and tuffaceous and pyroclastic rocks at bottom formation that have high gamma ray values. The reservoir in Airbenakat Formation has properties with porosity values between 18-30%, average hydrocarbon saturation values between 39-60%, and average clay volume values (Vclay) between 30-56%. The depositional environment facies of Airbenakat Formation reservoir in the research area is a marine deltaic fluvial dominated depositional environment, with a fairly wide distribution from north to south in the research area. Hydrocarbon gas has been proven to be found in abundance in Airbenakat Formation reservoir from drilling that has been carried out and is a type of thermogenic gas related to the petroleum play system of the Oligo-Miocene fluvial-deltaic source rock of Talangakar Formation. text |
