Summary:Knowledge-based view suggests that the organization main asset is its know-how capability, explicit and tacit knowledge which exists in the organization member. Implementation of knowledge sharing among the members intended to maintain its knowledge to reside in the organization. Therefore, knowledge sharing has been studied in organizational studies extensively. Previous research assumed formal organization structure used as a foundation in assuming knowledge sharing relationship process among the members. Nevertheless, social interaction perspective argues that knowledge sharing is a group interaction which occurs in the informal network. PT. Dirgantara Indonesia is a state-owned aviation company which in 1996 experiencing budget cut due to economic crises. The budget cut induces layoff which considered as knowledge outflow. To reinstate the company position in the market, PT. Dirgantara Indonesia initiated knowledge management effort; prior strategic development decision maker needs to comprehend the condition. Consequently, this study aimed to examine structured and unstructured organization interaction in knowledge sharing, especially in a project-based organization. The result of the research showed that informal organization holds an important part in PT. Dirgantara Indonesia's knowledge sharing. Moreover, the knowledge sharing activity divided into two type based on the task requirement. An agent-based modeling approach was used to display formal and informal organization. Agent-based modeling able to capture individual interaction and the dynamics of knowledge sharing. Model development in this research expected to expand organizational simulation in knowledge sharing.
