Summary: | The 5.6 SR earthquake that occurred on Monday, November 21, 2022 in Cianjur Regency had a
negative impact on Cugenang District, Cianjur City. There were 379 people killed, 9718 people
injured, and 13834 people being evacuated. After the earthquake, waste management at evacuation
posts was not carried out optimally, where waste was generally burned or piled up without sorting.
Based on sampling results in January 2024, the total waste produced in five selected villages
(Benjot, Gasol, Mangunkerta, Wangunjaya, and Sukamanah Villages) reached 6.32 tons/day.
Several alternatives will be proposed to solve the problem of putrescible and inorganic waste at
the waste proccesing that will be built in Cugenang District. The selected alternative was chosen
using the Simple Additive Weight (SAW) method by considering a literature review and several
aspects including processing efficiency, environmental impact, and operational costs. Processing
using BSF can process 41.47% of waste or around 2.62 tons/day, while incineration can reduce
38.64% of inorganic waste or 2.44 tons/day. Financial analysis shows that this project is profitable,
with a Net Present Value (NPV) of IDR 438.273.700 and a Payback Period of 4 years with a
retribution scheme of IDR 10,000 per head of family. The results of this study indicate that BSFbased waste management and incineration are effective in reducing the volume of waste sent to
the landfill, while providing economic benefits. It is hoped that this system can be implemented as
a sustainable solution for waste management in Cugenang District and other affected areas. |
