Summary: | echnological developments have created new values and ways in everyday life.
The use of digital and network-based technology is optimized in various aspects of
society, including in education. Higher education, especially in the field of Visual
Communication Design in Indonesia, is experiencing significant changes with the
application of this technology. The learning process does not escape the use of
digital tools and also the design process which shifts to the form of simulations and
virtual spaces. Network technology is used to transfer knowledge, optimize
understanding, and support learning experiences and work results. This daring
learning method relies heavily on visual content and digital interactions, so visual
and media literacy greatly influences the learning experience.
This research aims to examine visual literacy, interaction, and understanding of
cultural values in the daring learning phenomenon at universities in the field of
visual communication design which basically uses studio-based methods. This is a
method that prioritizes the design stage with direct experience, teacher direction,
and collaboration between individuals in the studio space. By applying theories in
the fields of communication, media and culture, research is expected to be able to
examine problems from an interdisciplinary perspective.
This research is qualitative research with an interdisciplinary approach to examine
the concept of virtuality in the context of modern learning. Virtual ethnography is
used to examine visual literacy, interactions between aspects of virtual space and
design processes in daring contexts. The case study was conducted in the visual
communication design study program at a higher education in the field of fine arts
and design in Indonesia. This research assumes that learning situations mediated
by technology in cyberspace change students' creative processes through their
perceptions and interpretation abilities. It is hoped that this research can contribute
to the understanding of cyber culture in the context of design education,
understanding the concept of virtuality in the studio space, and the application of
hybrid learning in higher education in the field of visual communication design in
the future. |
