INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/87100 In line with government programs to increase the mix of renewable energy utilization, PLN is currently required to gradually convert the use of fossil energy in the form of pure diesel fuel into biodiesel. PLTD Sentawar with a capacity of 21 x 1 MW located in Melak, East Kalimantan is one of the power plants owned by PLN Indonesia Power which is under the management of PT PLN IP UBP Mahakam. PLTD Sentawar is currently using B35 biodiesel fuel. The change from the use of pure diesel (HSD B0) to Biodiesel B20 then B30 and even now to B35 has had some negative impacts on diesel plant operations. Faster fuel filter clogging is one of the cases encountered, requiring more maintenance time for filter replacement. Considering these constraints, the idea of using additives as a perlakuan that can be used to improve the quality of B35 in diesel power plants emerged. The research methodology used is a literature study related to the use of biodiesel additives first. Then the biodiesel blending experiment with additives was conducted at Sentawar PLTD. The amount of additive mixture used followed the additive manufacturer's recommendation of 1:30,000 for the first 100 hours, then 1:15,000 for the next dose. Furthermore, in this experiment, biodiesel samples will be taken 3 times for laboratoriumoratory testing. The first sample was taken before the biodiesel was given the additive, the second sample was taken after the biodiesel was given the additive after 100 hours of operation, and the last sample was taken after 1,000 hours of operation. Based on the results of experiments mixing biodiesel with additives at Sentawar PLTD, the results show that biodiesel has improved quality in terms of cleanliness parameters and has experienced fuel savings in terms of PLTD specific fuel consumption (SFC). This shows that the use of additives can have a positive impact on diesel engines and is suitable for application in other diesel engines. text
