Summary: | SPORT Jabar Arcamanik is a sportipolis area in Bandung City that plays a vital role as a training center for West Java athletes while also serving as a recreational space for the community. Initially, this area was a horse racing track that served as a lively entertainment hub for Bandung residents. However, the development of this sports complex since 2010, aimed at supporting the 2016 PON XIX event, led to the disappearance of horse racing activities, which were once a significant part of the area’s history and identity. Currently, SPORT Jabar Arcamanik is frequently visited for various sports activities. However, it still faces the issue of negative spaces in several unfinished areas, such as the athlete dormitory, hall of fame, sports high school, and mosque. These underutilized spaces with poor visual quality reduce the area’s overall appeal. Therefore, a design solution is required to revitalize these spaces by considering historical values and user needs. A placemaking approach is proposed for the landscape design of SPORT Jabar Arcamanik, with the vision of "SPORT Jabar Arcamanik as a great sport edu-tourism place." This approach aims to transform negative spaces into attractive, multifunctional areas, reintroduce equestrian sports with a standard horse riding arena, and improve the design quality of public spaces. By creating a positive sense of place, the area is expected to enhance the community's quality of life, preserve historical values, and strengthen local economic competitiveness. |
