Summary: | Sound is always present, enveloping our nature and life; sound exists and
accompanies every event that occurs. Through perception, the author understands
that sound is an object with its own presence that can be evaluated based on
perception. The "Manifestation of Arrangements" series presents nine works that
are the author's exploration of sound forms. The author uses that title, which is then
interpreted as an effort to realize the author's perspective on the form of sound by
borrowing and adjusting the compositional structure of the sounds heard. The
author achieves this by capturing and taking the structure of the sounds heard
through perception and then rearranging them into a visual structure in the work.
With sound as the inspiration for its creation, the author wants to capture their
personal perception and manifest it as an abstract visual structure. The art theory
underlying this series of works is art as form or formalism. Then the theory of
perception and synesthesia will support the creation of this work. Wassily
Kandinsky, Oesman Effendi, and Joan Mitchell are artists whose visuals, ideas, and
concepts the author studies as references in this series "Manifestation of
Arrangements." The media I used are acrylic ink and greyboard as the surface for
the artwork. The method used emphasizes the gestural aspect, the author creates
visual layering on the drawing surface with a multi-panel format spread out on the
floor. Through this method, the author can present intense visuals through the
layering of various stacking and line pulls. The author wants to present visuals that
can guide the audience's eyes to feel the depth and follow the movement while
immersing themselves in the work. Each work presents different visual
configurations, yet remains within the same concept. This work becomes a form of
exploration for the author, about how everything captured through the senses can
be perceived and interpreted in very different ways. This experience also opens a
new perspective on the presence of unseen natural elements and ways to understand
them. |
