LANDSCAPE PLANNING AND DESIGN OF SARANGAN LAKE AREA WITH EDUCATIONAL TOURISM APPROACH

Indonesia has a wealth of natural and cultural resources that make it one of the world's leading tourist destinations. However, the rapid development of tourism is often not accompanied by attention to environmental issues and pressures resulting from the impact of tourism. Telaga Sarangan, one of the popular natural tourist destinations in Magetan Regency, East Java, is one example of a location that faces these challenges. With its high natural and cultural potential, tourism development has not been carried out optimally considering that there are still many environmental issues that occur in the area. The planning and design location is in Telaga Sarangan, Plaosan District, Magetan Regency, East Java. With a delineation area of 75 hectares covering a 30-hectare lake area, this delineation includes protected forest areas, settlements, agriculture, service and trade areas, and public facilities. In the Magetan Regency Tourism Development Master Plan (RIPPARKAB), Telaga Sarangan is included in KSP 1 with the theme 'Development of natural and special interest tourism products supported by historical tourism'. This theme reflects the great potential of the area to be developed as a leading destination while still prioritizing the preservation of natural and cultural values. However, despite having great potential in terms of high ecological value and beautiful natural landscapes, the Telaga Sarangan area currently still faces a number of problems that impact the environment and the surrounding ecosystem. Problems arising from the impact of tourism activities, irregular spatial planning, overtourism, the threat of disasters, and the lack of environmental education for visitors and the surrounding community are challenges that need to be addressed immediately. This planning aims to plan and design the landscape of the Telaga Sarangan tourist area with an Edu-tourism approach, which combines recreational experiences with education about environmental sustainability. This plan aims to maintain the stability of the Telaga Sarangan ecosystem, maximize the beauty and function of the landscape, and minimize the environmental impacts caused by tourism activities. In addition, the approach used will focus on Edu-tourism, which not only increases visitor awareness of the importance of environmental conservation, but also maintains the cultural and historical values of the area. The results of the analysis show that there are four main problems in Telaga Sarangan, namely overtourism, environmental issues and pressures due to the impact of tourism, less than optimal tourism development, and the threat of disaster. With the integration of the analysis results and the principles of Edu-tourism that can be applied in Telaga Sarangan, the concept was formulated by creating three planning zones that could best represent the six principles of Edu-tourism chosen to be applied with the aim of maintaining the stability of the Telaga Sarangan area ecosystem, optimizing the beauty and function of the landscape as a tourist attraction, reducing the environmental impact of tourism activities, increasing visitor awareness through environmental education, and preserving culture, history, and the environment in Telaga Sarangan.
