Description
Summary:The Central Sumatra Basin is one of the largest hydrocarbon producing basins in Indonesia. The research conducted in “TC” Field aims to identify the distribution of hydrocarbons in the Loer Sihapas Formation, which is a reservoir rock with sandstone and shale lithology. Based on tuning thickness analysis, the thin layer of sandstone in the Lower Sihapas Formation is below the vertical resolution of seismic data and previous research have shown a bad AVO response to target below tuning thickness. Therefore, a method is needed to optimally identify the distribution of lithology and fluids. The research uses 3D Pre-Stack Time Migration seismic data with three key wells data. Analysis of well log data indicates that lambda-rho and density are elastic parameters sensitive to detecting gas fluids and lithology. Then, seismic data resolution was enhanced to improve data quality, allowing the resulting simultaneous inversion model to better approximate the actual subsurface conditions, particularly in resolving thin layers. The results of the seismic stratigraphy and facies analysis that have been carried out show that the Lower Sihapas Formation was deposited in a transgressive phase as indicated by thick sandstone deposits that are becoming thinner due to rising sea levels.
