Description
Summary:This study focuses on extracting Method Chunks from several popular Agile Software Development methodologies to support the implementation of Situational Method Engineering (SME). SME enables the development of software methodologies that can be tailored to specific needs and diverse project situations. This is achieved by constructing methodologies using a collection of Method Chunks. However, the limited availability of Method Chunks from Agile methodologies remains a significant challenge. This research aims to address this limitation by extracting Method Chunks from popular Agile methodologies. The extraction process begins with identifying the granularity within Agile methodologies to produce candidate practices. Subsequently, the extraction is carried out based on a worksheet developed in previous research. This process includes identifying practices based on the determined granularity, mapping these practices to the Essence Kernel to ensure compliance with the Essence standard, and incorporating Situational Factors as contextual information for utilizing Method Chunks in specific situations. After the extraction process, verification and validation are conducted to ensure the quality and completeness of the extracted Method Chunks. The results demonstrate that the extraction of Method Chunks has been successfully conducted following the Essence standard, referencing the Method Chunk meta-model. This study contributes to providing Method Chunks that support the design of Situational Methods based on the Essence standard.
