Description
Summary:An electromyography needle is a medical device that requires strict technical specifications to ensure safety and user comfort. The needle sharpening process, which determines the geometry quality of the needle tip, is carried out with the assistance of jigs and fixtures. This study aims to analyze the impact of geometric tolerance stack-up in jig and fixture components on the outcome of the needle sharpening process. The methodology includes a literature review, identification of requirements, dimensional and geometry measurements, and tolerance analysis using the "worst-case" method. The results indicate that the resulting needle specifications remain within the defined tolerance limits despite tolerance stack-up in the jig and fixture components. The study also identifies the need to redesign the jig and fixture to simplify existing features and reduce potential tolerance accumulation. Additionally, recommendations are needed for developing a more effective needle positioning aid.
