These units were mostly located at South Sulawesi that famed for the largest center of silk weaving activities in Indonesia.<p> <br /> <br /> South Sulawesi's industrial units of woven silks were grown based on traditional weaving activities with Alat Tenun Tradisional (ATT) Gedogan that have been practiced by the inhabitants for centuries. These traditional woven silks became a trading commodity at international port in Makassar, the gateway to east Indonesia, and widely known since then. After the declarations of Republic of Indonesia (RI) in 1945, the weavers begun to used Alat Tenun Bukan Mesin (ATBM) and Alat Tenun Mesin (ATM). The use of these two looms did more profitable for weavers and entrepreneurs, as they more productive to cover markets' quantity.<p> <br /> <br /> But the growth of woven silks' industry with ATBM and ATM did not endangered the use of ATT Gedogan in South Sulawesi entirely. At Kabupaten Wajo, the major central of woven silks' weavers in Sulawesi Selatan, we could find some weavers that still using the traditional loom until this day.<p> <br /> <br /> Because, woven silk products of ATT Gedogan have been valued for the existence of good craftsmanship among the silk weaving activities in Kabupaten Wajo, South Sulawesi. These values were the main topic of this research, included aesthetic, functional, and technical, during the period of grown industry of woven silks in Kabupaten Wajo.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> (Chapter 4 of the softcopy can not detected by computer) text
