Summary: | Respirable particulates are particulates which having diameter size at 2-5 µm, due to aerodinamically may be inhaled through respiratory tract and having ability to deposit into lungs, causing damage of the alveolar tissues, and inducing health problems. This research having intend to understand of respirable particulates exposure in society and the characterization of chemical materials contained as hazard identification. The useful of this procedur as the baseline to calculate IEC (Inhalation Exposure Concentration) values for estimate the concentration of respirable particulates and the materials contained which inhaled through the lung during period of time. Calculating of IEC is the earlier step from epidemiological study or risk assessment which connecting prevalency of tract respiratory disease with characteristic of respirable particulates. Location of research have done in four regions of Bandung City which had used as fixed station ambient air monitoring by BPLHD West Java. Personal sampler have used for collection of respirable particulates from human breathing zone. Arithmatic mean of respirable particulates exposure in work day from each location showed as 82,38 µg/m3 (Tegalega), 67,93 µg/m3 (Aria Graha), 51,30 µg/m3 (Dago Pakar), and 72,65 µg/m3 (Cisaranten Wetan), in weekend represent as 56,98 µg/m3 (Tegalega), 63,19 µg/m3 (Aria Graha), 51,27µg/m3 (Dago Pakar), and 75,89 µg/m3 (Cisaranten Wetan). Elements Br, Mn, Al, I, V, Cl, Ti, Na, Hg, Pb, and black carbon (BC), are the elements which have identified. The results showed that respirable particulates which inhaled by citizen as reseptor at Tegalega, Aria Graha, Dago Pakar, and Cisaranten Wetan are relatively higher than PM2,5 ambient air at the same places. Prediction of the pollutant source which involved of respirable particulates present have dominated by transportation activities. Almost whole of such elements which contained in respirable paticulates was found in highest concentration at Cisaranten Wetan as industrial area. The citiziens whose having outside activities at Tegalega and Cisaranten Wetan could possibly higher potential exposed of respirable particulates pollutant than they whose having outside activities at Aria Graha and Dago Pakar. <br />
