The increasing of natural gas reserve which has big potential as energy alternative replacement of oil fuel for domesctic's need. In line with increasing energy’s need for national electrical power and chemical industry activators in South Sumatera, so it’s needed big energy supply. By exploration and exploitation of natural resourse that natural gas potential in South Sumatera will be able to supply its energy need. Based on Gas Sale Agreement (GSA) between PT. Medco E&P Indonesia and government institutions or private institution, among others PLN, PUSRI, Mitra Energy Buana to support in exploitation gas fields of PT. Medco E&P Indonesia in South Sumatera. <br /> <br /> <br /> This article is purposed to calculate gas reserve and economic evaluation of one gas filed (Temelat field in SSE Block) to supply energy need and its benefits, and also the society role in community development. The reserve calculation of Temelat field is about 19 BSCF. By assuming gas price US$ 2.46 / MMBTUdan total capital investment US$ M 7,208, so Temelat field development project will give profit US$ M 20,044 to the country and US$ 8,591 to company with Rate of Return (ROR) 55% and POT in 2.6 years. <br /> <br /> <br /> Temelat field and other small gas fields development in the SSE block are always delayed in execution due to the gas demand as contract can be supplied by other big gas fields which have more interested economic, so it's needed to study the benefits of Temelat field by looking the other market demand opportunities for compost industry, PLN or home industry for South Sumatera and its surrounding. This development delay is caused by infra structures that are not developed yet, so the policy proposals are needed to accelerate Temelat gas field development. <br />
