Problems begin when one of those activities dominate the other which finally produce the decrease of environmental quality in downtowns area. As the result of this, land use does not represent specific character. Surakarta, a city with cultural assets, deals with the problem of community cultural development. The conflicts of land use between economical and cultural area threaten cultural area function. For this reason, downtown of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Surakarta needs to be organized to emphasize land use boundaries, so that both activities can develop in harmony. Therefore this research has a goal to create <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> developing and designing concepts of cultural area as city tourism area. The approach of study used was descriptive and normative. Descriptive method is <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> used to describe study location based on the viewpoint of stakeholders while normative one is applied to create designing concepts of cultural area as city <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> tourism area with regard to literature. According to stakeholder opinions, development of area must keep Keraton as a cultural area without diminishing on <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> economical activities. City tourism concept is designed to created harmonization of activities both economics and culture in downtown of Surakarta Municipality. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> There are 3 (three) designing principles to increase physical quality of area, i.e.: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> power of attraction, convenience and accessibility. Furthermore, there are 7 (seven) designing elements, i.e.: vehicle circulations, pedestrian paths, parkings, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> land uses, green opened spaces, supporting activities and street furniture. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Based on the result of study, the concepts of circulation are changing circulatory flow of vehicles in order to reduce congestion, relocating PKL and returning the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> function of pedestrian path. Meanwhile, the concepts of land use are dividing areas into 3 zones, i.e.: economical, cultural and mix of economical and cultural <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> zone. To maintain convenience of visitors, the areas must be planted with various vegetations, especially along the pedestrian paths and parking lots. In order to <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> keep cultural atmosphere, building organization should be in harmony with Keratons concepts which forbid buildings to be constructed higher than Songgobuwono stage, orient them directed to Alun-alun utara, paint them in <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> accord with Bangun Tolaks concept (Blue - White) and design them to adapt to Keraton buildings patterns. text |
