This phenomenon manifested by the the significant increased of prostaglandin production (p<0,05) and the number of osteoclast (p<0,01). Administration of mefenamic acidintra peritoneally in effective analgesic dose 50 (16 mg/KG body weight), 6 and 12 hours after the insertion of orthodontic wire inhibited the rate of prostaglandin production. Whereas just 12 hours of glafenin given in effective analgesic dose 50 (56 mg/KG body weight) after the treatment was the most effective for inhibiting the prostaglandin production. But both, mefenamic acid and glafenin did not inhibit the appereance of osteoclast and the rate of tooth movement. In fact the study have demonstrated that administration of mefenamic acid or glafenin in effective analgesic dose do not inhibit the rate of tooth movement by induced orhtodonticforces. Whilethe experiment results also tendto indicate that the correlation between the prostaglandin and the appereance of osteoclast is not markedly significant. text |

The experimental results showed that prostaglandin and osteoclast are involved in bone resorption induced by orthodontic mechanical forces.
