A group of one-week old chicken were reinfected with embrionated eggs of A.galli. Five hundred embrionated eggs were used as primary infection agent, whereas 1.000 others served in reinfection. All of the experimental chickens were sacrificed at the age of eight week in order to measure the parasites number and size in their intestines. Two days before sacrification, leucocyte number, percentage of lymphocyte and concentration of haemoglobine were determine. The result showed a decrease in A.galli population after reinfection, an increase in leucocyte number which was particularly lymphocytes and a lower haemoglobine concentration. It could be concluded that the decrease in A.galli population after reinfection as well as the increasing number of leucocytes in term of lymphocytes were related to immunity. text |
