Description
Summary:By using five-hole probe as the data measure device and some swirler vanes models which have different degree distribution, an experiment of aerodynamic characteristic of swirling flow in a cylindrical tube at ambient temperature (without burning process) has been conduct. The arrangement of apparatus was set so it measure the pressure change at several testing point through the tube downstream behind the swirler vanes which was hold in a swirl flow wind tunnel with 94 mm in diameter. The usage of five-hole probe, is also for the estimation of vector direction of swirl flow field, so axial swirl decay downstream through the tube could be observed. After the velocity and pressure distribution have known, then the examination on swirl decay could be done more accurately. Relation between swirl flow pattern and swirl vanes geometries used, was analyzed in its connection with flow characteristics and swirl number. Two swirl vanes were used, one with uniform constant angle distribution 30° and the other with tip twisted angle distribution 53° linier, by geometric swirl number 0,39 and 0,68, respectively. But those two swirl vanes have the same aerodynamic swirl number 0,38. From the analysis, it was obtained that swirl flow distribution had affect on swirl decay characteristic, while a different local aerodynamic swirl number would give a different axial swirl decay pattern. And the decaying speed of the decay was also different which indicated by fitting coefficient a and β, the initial local swirl number and the decay rate, respectively.
