Urban sprawl phenomena affected Indonesia in a row with urban population growth. National economic growth inclined rely on cities, invite many rural people to came to the cities. The old cities has not receive the urbanization flow that in last thirsty time keep on growth up above 3 percent (Firman, 1999). Fringes area urbanization immediately with fast, especially because the new residence environment (Mamas, 2000). Urban service still in the old urban core, although that town citizen influence and to be resident in as far as from central town. <br />

Motivate the urban sprawl cause of regional transportation policy that want to travel efficiency in the macro scale or inter cities. The physical shape of this decision is ring road development in many cities in Indonesia, because the trajectory in town can not to support of the regional transportation (The result of The URGE Sustainable Transportation in Java Association research by IUC Engineering - UGM). The ring road development is mean of give to the new access to suburban area. That access then in order to by the population for building the new residential. But the activity orientation and meet a demand is still in central town cause of spread less town utility like as school utility, healthy, shop, trade, government and public utility to direction out side of town. <br />

That cause of suburban population prefer to use vehicle their own likely bicycle and car to go to activity location in a place of central town, while public transport likely bus, oplet and taxi no to be the alternative choice, where the first of all that cause of not including of reasonable the public transport service level in suburban areas to the central urban if appeal with in central urban, with the result that indication the public transportation as though supplied to wait on the captive people. <br />

The consequence of this phenomenon, the private transport growth of the urban in highest (in Indonesia 8 - 12 percent / year). In Bandung city, the level of growth private transport is highest. In 1998, amount of vehicle in Bandung 416.266 unit until 2003 increase to be 710.775 unit. Since 1998 until 2003, increasing average of total vehicle is 75.258 unit per year or 20,35 percent (Bandung City in Figure). <br />

Bandung city just 45,34 km/year or 3,51 percent/year. We can see that settlement of traffic trouble by means of immediately extensive of road will not finish the traffic problem for so long time. Even less for Bandung city, breading the road is difficult cause decrease of land and fund. <br />

The once of the government effort to solving that problem above is arrange and increasing the travel system of service by means of the speedy public travel supply with the rail way or the great road. <br />

According to, need to know how many the willingness of population especially the population that staying in the suburban Bandung area to split to that massive travel. <br />

Agree with the result of this research, the willingness of suburban population Bandung areas to use massive travel in future is very great, especially the family that consist of fourth person with medium and under income level (minus Rp. 1,5 billion). Although this family have one car in their house and almost of all that family have a motor cycle in their house. This willingness looked for the purpose of travel that conducted by suburban population very much is work, that the father is the dominator of behavior that the great of part is the employee of the private company that is 5 6 km from home so far with using motor cycle. <br />

The dominant of child go to school that ready to use that public travel. The will of modal split of the child is the student were used public travel with go trough 2 - 4 km from home with public travel. <br />

In sufficient, the mother is tend to shopping at nearest place from home, with the result that the willingness of mother to use the travel in the future will not influence the decision of massive travel supply. <br />

Thus, the population of Bandung suburban west area be ready to modal split. furthermore the government or the related side must done is increasing the level service transportation medium especially public travel medium. <br />
