The advantages of membrane bioreactor is products selectively passed through the membrane and will result in higher %yield than conventional methods. In this research, membrane bioreactor is prepared by immobilized crude extract α-amylase onto poly(methylmethacrylate) membrane. Membrane bioreactor crude extract α-amylase is used to degrade starch producing oligosaccharide. Crude extract α-amylase is immobilized onto polyacrylamide gel using entrapping method. Results of this research indicate that the immobilized α-amylase crude extract still able to degrade starch, but the activity is lower than activity of free enzymes. Performance test of membrane bioreactor showing that %rejection to starch molecule is high, but the ability to degrade starch is low. The optimatization is needed to incrase the perfomance of membrane bioreactor. text
