Description
Summary:The location of this research was taken place at Moronopo site, east Halmahera, North Maluku province. The intention of this research was to determine boulder measurement that still mined economically. At Moronopo's nickel laterit mining production, after the ore took from the front, sampling was done at transito and then the ore was filtered using grizzly with 20 cm sized. Which ore with spesification more than 20 cm size was considered as waste (not economical), and the filtered ore was economically value. This will reduced the ore tonnage whenever some boulder have more than 20 cm fraction had economical % Ni weight. Based on cut off mixed grade (the grade used at the field was 1.10 % Ni weight), the average of weathered thickness from all fraction stuck on the boulder, and the boulder dimension abtained that boulder size diameter that still economical or contain % Ni weight was 20.16 cm. This value obtained from the relation between % Ni weight, boulder dimension, using an exponetial regretion. The equation is y = 1.2787e-0.0062x which y value is % Ni weight cut off grade mixed that used in company, and x value is a boulder diameter that still economical. Weathered that happened at any area influenced by some control factors to formed nickel laterit, such as climate, rainfall, vegetation, topography, parent rock (source rock), structure control, and weathered time. <br />
