As consequences of this excessive exploitations, the species become threatened while a lot of knowledge need to be explored especially for chemical studies. This plant has been reported to contain flavonoids, stilbens, and terpenoids. In this investigations, three flavonoids that have biogenetic relathionship have been isolated from the stem bark of I. bijuga, namely aromadendrin, luteolin, and apigenin. The structure of these compounds were determined based on spectroscopic data including UV-Vis, Infrared, and 1HNMR. The cytotoxic activity of these compounds have been tested against the murine leukemia P-388 cell and IC50 of these compounds are 57 μg/mL; 0,27 μg/mL and 3,6 μg/mL, respectively. Planarity of C ring and orto dihydroxy group of B ring effected the increase of cytotoxicity. text
