Indonesia Theses INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/9157 ABSTRACT:

A major aspect of water quality management in Donan River involves the modelling of water quality changes. Water quality monitoring between in 1977-1993 so that pollutions occured in Donan River, especially some of oil and phenol compounds. The pollutants are common constituents of the aqueous effluents from oil refineries plants.

A numerical model 1-DH predicting the transport and fate of oil and phenol in Donan River has been applicated. The concentration of pollutans at time t are computed from advective pollutants transport equation by Backward (upwind) differences scheme.

In this work, the application of hydrodynamics specific to the modelling of oil and phenol pollutants is demonstrated using a one-demensional depth-integrated transport model of Donan River, Cilacap. A major asumption for numerical solution of the model equations is (1) Donan River has been clasified by well-mixed estuary, (2) the generating force of water flows is the tidal force and the horizontal variation of pressure, and (3) the concentration of pollutants presents as average local concentration. The developing models is the non steady transport model is solved numerically.

The model simulates for 24 hours reasonably accurately the horizontal and tidal distribution of oil and phenol in the Donan River. Transport of oil and Phenol pollutants in Donan River significan sequence moving with advective mechanism and the morfology of Donan River. The model has potential for the more general diagnosis and predicting of oil and phenol pollutans moving in Donan River. text
