Description
Summary:Phthorimaea operculella Zeller is one of the important potato pests in the storage or in the field. In relation with this matter, the experiment of using synthetic Pyrethroids to control this pest (Phthorimaea operculella) and its effect to parasitoid on potato has been conducted in Lembang Horticulture Research Institute from September 1984 to Maret 1985. The experimental design used in this experiment was Split Plot Design with 3 replications. The treatment were a follows : The interval of one weeks done 2 weeks after planting and controlling potato plant when the attack of Phthorimaea operculella has shown up, was main plot. Synthetic Pyrethroids such as c Cyfluthrin 0,5 SL, Decamethrin 2,5 EC, Fenvalarate 5 EC, Cypermethrin 5 EC and organophosphate insecticide (Acephate) SP with . formulation dosage of 0,1 %, as subplot.

The results of this experiment were :

1. The use of insecticide two weeksafter planting showed higher healthy potato tubers with the attack Phthorimaea

operculella to potato tubers were less as compared to

curative control.

2. Phthorimaea operculella population could be restricted by the use of synthetic Pyrethroids.as compared to control (untreated).

3. Acephate 75 SP showed the smallest damage as compared to synthetic Pyrethroids insecticide.

4. Parasitoid population could be control bu-using synthetic Pyrethroids and Acephate 75 SP insecticide.

5. Preventive used of insecticide could control parasitoid population higher than curative.
