TREATABILITY STUDY AND THE KINETICS OF SPECIAL SECURITY PRINTING WASTE WATER TREATMENT BY ANAEROBIC SEQUENCING BATCH REACTOR (ASBR) ON CIRCULATING BED REACTOR (CBR)

The kinetics of anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) treatment of security printing wastewater is evaluated. One cycle of ASBR consist of 5 (five) steps i.e. fill, react, settle, decant and idle is run for different reaction times of 12h, 36h, 54h, and 125h. Concentration of COD in the influen...

Description
Summary:The kinetics of anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) treatment of security printing wastewater is evaluated. One cycle of ASBR consist of 5 (five) steps i.e. fill, react, settle, decant and idle is run for different reaction times of 12h, 36h, 54h, and 125h. Concentration of COD in the influen is to be set at 20.000 mg/L. Before running of ASBR, seeding and acclimatization is conducted in order to maintain the microbial growth of biomass. On the seeding and acclimatization, the feasible maximum ratio of cosubstrate to substrate is evaluated. The reaction is take place on a batch circulating bed reactor (CBR). Biomass culture is taken from setic tank. The first experiment result maximum substrate to cosubstrate ratio of 80 : 20. At this condition, organis removal achieved is 39,72%; time needen to achieve steady state condition is 35 days; substrate removal rate (dS/dt) is 258,4 mg/L/day; biomass growth rate (dX/dt) is 1,2 mg/L/day; spesific substrate removal rate (q) is 0,10 per day; spesific biomass growth rate (u) is 0,04x10(-2) per day. Overall seeding gives yield coefficient (Y) of 0,1 mgVSS/mgCOD and the rate of biomass decy (Kd) of 0,01 per day. The reaction period on ASBR experiment results reaction time of 54 gives highest Y and substrate removal efficiency i.e. 0,0584 mgVSS/mgCOD and 59,35% respectively, with Kd of 0,001 jam(-1). Highest total volatile acid rate shows by reaction time of 125 i.e. 10,02 mg/L/jam. On the filling period, all Y value is negative. Y value which is close to zero is obtained at reaction time of 36 hour (-0,162 mgVSS/mgCOD) with k of -0,1818 jam(-1). While in idle period, reaction time of 36 hours gives the highest value of Y (0,3377 mgVSS/mgCOD) eith substarte removal efficiency of 3,86%.
