Description
Summary:ABSTRACT:

Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is one of the access network technology which transport the signal in asymmetrical direction. ITU-T as the international standardization body had recommended high speed bit rate in ADSL 64 Kbps up to 640 Kbps for upstream signal and 1.5 Mbps up to 6 Mbps for downstream signal. By using this ADSL technology many customer services demand such as voice, data and video can be fulfilled easily without any changes in infrastructure because the transmission medium already exist. This is a reason why the ADSL was chosen as one of the access network technology to transport broadband services in the future.

Although ADSL implementation gives such benefit to optimize existing subscriber loop and to save the cost of installation and maintenance it still have many limitation on transporting that service from the local exchange to the customer side. The kind of such consideration are quality of service (QoS) during transmission process over medium of copper, cable length (customer achievement) to achieve customer service area, crosstalk noise occurance among the adjacent pair and radio interference environment. In addition, the successful key-word of access network performance in ADSL implementation is also depended on the raw material that will be used, the installation-maintenace procedure and many other on copper requirement.

This thesis more focused on analysis and calculation to copper acces network performance to deliver those services using ADSL based on the requirement. This thesis also gives any consideration in order to achieve the cable length restriction and crosstalk noise limitation on the subscriber line side. On the other word by this analysis and calculation it will be defined the copper access network performance to handle broadband services.
