Description
Summary:Abstract:

The research about the Macrozoobenthic communities and the relationship with water current in the Cibeureum River, was done from the month of November 1995 to March 1996. Macrozoobenthic were taken as sample using Surber s net (25 cm x 40 cm) and Ekman dredge (15 cm x 15 cm) at two fixed location. Each location had nine stations from various parts of the river with different water current. The abiotic environmental factors considered in this research were water temperature, conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, pH, biological oxygen demand and the nitrate contents. For determining the grouping of macrozoobenthic communities, the analysis was done by using the composition data and species abundance by the cluster analysis approach. Among the 44 species of macrozoobenthic were encountered during this study, 4 species of Turbellarians, 5 species of Hirudineans, 7 species of Oligochaetes, 5 species of Gastropods, 4 species of Crustaceans and 19 species of Insects. Lumbricullus sp., Tubifex tubifex and Chironomus sp., were found to be more in the area of sampled. Total densities of macrozoobenthic tend to decrease as the speed of water current increases. The indices of diversity (H) various in the space and time. The results from cluster analysis showes the macrozoobenthic communities can be devided into two main groups. The first group was found in the water current speed of 0 - 10 cm/sec, the species of macrozoobenthic was found to be more this group is Tubifex tubifex and Lumbricullus sp. The second community is of the part of the river have been the water current above 10 cm/sec. the species of macrozoobenthic was found to be more this group is Tubifex tubifex and Chironomus sp. Multiple regression analysis, indicated that abiotic environmental factors which affect abundance and spatial distribution of the each macrozoobenthic were relatively similar. The abiotic factors, namely water temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, pH, biological oxygen demand and the nitrate contents. Between sites similarities of the macrozoobenthic communities were also discussed.
