Description
Summary:

Through a design study, this research discusses the minimalist design widely implemented on houses today in Bandung city. The research includes analytic descriptive method. Collecting Data, instead of literature study, have been performed by field observation, interviewing some minimalist house occupants, and open questionnaire to 100 respondents as Bandung people. In this research it finds that there are no differences among implementation of minimalist design on a number of houses located in both North and South Bandung, though the two areas differ in geographical conditions. The result shows that some people in Bandung still regard minimalism as an image related to visual performance features. So far, most backgrounds of the implementation of the minimalist houses are still limited in visual only and there have not been further thoughts about the relations between minimalism and surrounding environment. The shallow knowledge of the minimalist house implementation limited on the outer only may result from the minimal knowledge and understanding of minimalist concepts in the people. The glow phenomena of minimalist houses in Bandung city illustrate the emergence of a house trend.
