Abstract:

The study of penicillin production by fermentation has been carried out using 4 strains of Penicillium chrysogenum ATCC 16521, 26818, 28089 and 48271 in 5 fermentation mediums. The viable spore of 3-4x106 was inoculated into 100 ml seed medium. The o...

The optimal time to transfer P. chrysogenwn ATCC 16521, 26818, 28089 and 48271 inoculum into fermentation medium, were respectively at the 48th, 48th, 42nd and 60th hour. The penicillin yield using medium E was increased by the use of 0.4% (NH4)2SO4, 0.125% KH2PO4 and 0.1% phenoxyacetic acid in the medium. The fermentation process with an aeration rate of 1.0 vvm, give a higher penicillin yield than of 0.8 vvm and 1.2 vvm. text
