The research conducted in Ranah Pesisir subdistrict, regency of Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatera. This subdistrict consists of 6 unit of exploration wells and 19 unit of exploitation wells, where all intended to irrigation. <br />
<br />
<br />
The methodology used in this research is climatology data from Padang Laban, Balai Selasa and Air Haji stations, based on pumping test data on well which had been Conducted from January - March 1995. Modflow is applied to figure out and predict the changing of groundwater surface. <br />

<br />
It is found,that the type of aquiferis the pressured one with 16-38 meters depth, mean while the aquifer transmisivity ranges from 44,59 to 379,32 m2/day and the maximum pumping discharge are between 3,05 until 10,80 lt/sec. The result of groundwater surface's measurement on April, 1999 used as control data. <br />

Planting system is based on the calculation of the least irrigation demand that is 10.535,30 m3/ha started from the beginning of December. <br />
<br />

The outcame of simulation shows that the most obvious of groundwater surface's difference occurs on the beginning of September, or on the third planting season began from early August. It is all because the high demand of irrigation without much rainfall on the second planting season. <br />
<br />
<br />
The simulation which has been conducted for over 5 years,. shows the descent of groundwater surface about 2-2.5 meters in the first year, 0.5-1 metres in the second year, 0.25 metres in the third year. And on the fourth year the Groundwater surface has become stable. <br />
<br />
<br />
Based on this research, it is needed to minimize the wide of oncoran's well in order to fulfil the demand of groundwater according to planting system that the farmers prefer to. <br />
