Distribution of Macrozoobenthos in the riffle of Cikapundung River, Bandung. A study on macrozoobenthos distribution in the riffle of Cikapundung River was conducted from 19th of April until 23rd of June 1986. Samples were taken three times with one month interval by using Surber net and Eckman Grab, from the slope of Mountain Bukit Tunggul (Station I), PLN Dago ( Station II), PJKA-Viaduct (Station III), UNPAS Lengkong ( Station IV) and Bojongsoang Bridge (Station V). Macrozoobenthos communities were compared by using Bray-Curtis Coefficient of Similarity, whereas the indices diversity were analysed by using Shannon-Wiener function. From the upper reaches down to PLN Dago the macrozoobenthos communities were dominated by insects, whereas macrozoobenthos communities of Station III, Stastion IV and Station V were relatively similar and were dominated by annelids. The Crustacea were only found at Station I, the Amphibia was found at Station II and the Gastropods were found at all stations. The water quality, substrate and nutrient enrichment appeared to be the determinant which caused the changes in composition and the diversity of macrozoobenthos communities. The species richness and the diversity indices of the macrozoobenthos tend to decrease when the water quality decreases along the course of the river from the upper reaches to the mouth. The species richness of macrozoobenthos in Cikapundung River have decreased, since Rondo Sinvestigation in 1981.
