Description
Summary:ABSTRACT:

The variety of coastal area natural resources, ecosystems, and environment services cause most of population live and work in this area. Consequence of the intensive growth of land based activities in coastal area is ecological pressure on water environment. This spatial relationship need to be known as a first step to identify the sources of coastal environment degradation that can be used for integrated coastal zone management. In this research, the impact of landuse change only examine on water sedimentation and pollution as a parameters of water quality degradation. Water sedimentation describe as process of relative depth changing accordance with turbidity level, while for identify of water pollution use fitoplankton diversity index (chlorophil concentration detection) and water surface temperature. Based on spatial analysis using Landsat TM 1994 and ETM+ 2001, it shows that landuse change in northen Jakarta coastal area which is tends to increase of developed land (especially for extending settlement and industry area) through conversion of water catchment area cause relative depth changing (more shallow) along with the increasing of turbidity level that affect on decreasing of fitoplankton diversity index. This water condition took place in eastern part, waterbodies of Tanjung Priok Port, and inside the bay (from Muara Angke until Muara Cakung) with a tends to spread away to the sea area. While the increasing of water surface temperature took place in estuary zone especially near industry activities (PLTU Muara Karang, Tanjung Priok Port, Sunda Kelapa, and Muara Angke).
