The solution of this problem is to build human ÂÂÂÂreadable knowledge base for plant operations. This focus of this thesis is to build plant operations knowledge base in primary reformer unit of amonia plan Kaltim 4 PT Pupuk Kaltim, Tbk (PKT). Human readable knowledge base of amonia plan will be build with rapid prototyping approach. Rapid prototyping is one of approach to knowledge management system development that knowledge base is data base of knowledge management system. Knowledge base building use this method consist of three step, there are knowledge capture, knowledge codification, and then knowledge base. Knowledge base will be built using a wiki engine. Knowledge capture are done by collecting existing operation documentation in ammonia plant Kaltim 4 PKT and capturing the tacit knowledge from the experts (operator and engineer that operate amonia plan). Knowledge capture of tacit knowledge are done with rapid prototyping interview method, in which knowledge is added with each knowledge capture session. Knowledge codification is organizing and representing knowledge before it is accessed by authorized personnel. Knowledge codification in knowledge management is converting tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge in a usable form for organizational mamber. Principles of knowledge codification are to define business goals, identify existing knowledge and goals, usesfulness and appropriates, and finally define medium for codification and distribution. Medium for codification in this thesis is called a knowledge map. After knowledge capture and knowledge codification, then the knowledge base is built using a wiki engine. Wiki engine are used in this thesis is Twiki engine, because this engine have functionality that are required by the chemical industry. The result of this thesis is a prototype of human readable knowledge base of ammonia plant for primary reformer unit operations. This knowledge base can be used in the chemical industry as knowledge repository and also as a tool for knowledge managemen process to enhance plant effisiency. Knowledge base with wiki engine are the root of knowledge management development. Superiority of this knowledge base are knowledge management process (knowledge creation, knowledge capture, knowledge organize, knowledge sharing, and knowledge transfer). The weakness of knowledge base with wiki engine are depend on user participation, there is no workflow for documentation, there is no selection of web contents, web contents are unstructured, and it can't give deduction of the problem. Benefit of a knowledge base with wiki engine for amonia plant operation is to improve plan efficiency, so the production target of the company could be attained. These could improve plant efficiency reduce time during plant operation problem solving, knowledge transfer for operator and engineers that operating the plant, so they will have qualified workers, and collaborate to build documentation on efficient plant operation methods. And then benefit for all organization are help the organization to identify new business, increase work efficency, tool for collaboration and knowledge uses, and make it easier for workers to perform their duties. Operation Knowledge Base can be implemented for other units in the ammonia plant. In fact this knowledge base can be used in other chemical industry. Writing structure and classification of existing knowledge can be used to all of amonia plant operations. text |
