B. Mangunwijaya, who his creation as interesting as his personality. Mangunwijaya was a Churchman with his national and international profession as Man of Letter, Cultural Observer, Social-Minded, Lecturer and Architect. His contributions appeared not only through real actions but also through his writings, among his own professions. All of his contributions had been awarded, national as well as international. <br /> <br /> <br /> In architecture, Mangunwijaya had preference at shape, color, space, and atmosphere. The forms of his creations are full of preparation which made from simple materials, yet their look interesting and appear geometrically. Their forms are always qualified because his creativitys are correct functionally. Therefore Mangunwijayas creations are unique. <br /> <br /> <br /> These particular expressions always appear on his creations although there are not always the same. There are always be a red line that connect all of his creations which also show his idealism on creating. Thus Mangunwijayas personal background can be seen as a factor which detennine his attitude on detennining shape substances of his forms. For these reasons, Mangunwijayas forms are interesting object for studies. <br /> <br /> <br /> In these studies, St. Maria Assumpta (at Klaten, Jawa Tengah) had been chosen as a sample for studies, based on the fact that St. Maria Assumpta is the first Mangunwijayas architectural creation, totally by himself He design its furniture as well as its building and put himself as a supervisor as well as a worker. <br /> <br /> <br /> The purposes of these studies are knowing the forms of Mangunwijayas architecture, with intention to explain one of architecture design approach and its value from one Indonesian architect. Aesthetic approach is used for analyzing because it is related with visualization, beauty, expression and meaning of forms. <br /> <br /> <br /> The result of these studies hopefully can give a positive contribution development and studies of Indonesian architecture, expand the perception of Mangunwijayas design and architecture creation, and lastly, it can be used as one of design approach on design and architecture. <br /> text
