Description
Summary:<p align="justify">One of the industries in manufacturing sector, which is growing fast in Indonesia, is an electronic industries. This sector is the second biggest contributor to the foreign exchange with a value of US$ 7.7 M in 2006. Electronic industries has capacity to grow in the future as the consumer goods electronic industries such as Panasonic, Sanyo, Sharp, LG, Samsung and some other companies have already operated in the country for long time. Nevertheless the value added of this industries is still relatively small due to the height input of import components. This is seemingly because of the low contribution of the technology in the production process. The purpose of this research is to measure the content of technology using Technometric model developed by ESCAP. According to this model, technology consist four element, namely technoware, humanware, inforware and orgaware, which are complementary to one another and required simultaneously at any transformation operation. Furthermore, this study intend to formulate a strategy by using gap analysis in order to enchance the contribution of technology in the small and medium enterprises of electronic components. The result shows that contribution of technology component from industries group as follows: Industries group with a low contribution measured by to Technological Contribution Coefficient (TCC) are ISIC 25192, ISIC 29320, ISIC 31103, ISIC 31300, ISIC 32300 and ISIC 36999. Industries group with ISIC 37100 has orgaware's contribution at low up to medium. Industries group with ISIC 28920 has humanware's and orgaware's contribution at low up to medium, on the contrary all contribution of technoware and infoware are low. Industries group with ISIC 32200 has low orgaware's contribution, technoware's and inforware's contribution are at low up to medium and humanware's contribution is medium. Based on this study, it is necessary to formulate a policy enchancing technology contribution in this sector. Therefore, the program proposed should take into consideration with the characteristic of each industries, such as :the procurement of computer for product design, moulding design, moulding making, computer and internet training, Standard Operation Procedure training, management and production planning training for owner of bussines.
