To improve to growth of business, the PT Timah, by 1997, was carrying out business development by acquisition, Joint Venture, and Greensfields Exploration, or endeavor to look for mining materials in a newly area, especially gold, diamond, and coal mining. By far such a business development have nor support successful corporation earnings in relation to domestically instable social, economic, politic, security conditions, and most closely competition for gold, diamond, and coal businesses. Therefore, the corporation need to make strategic changes to create future excellent, newly business opportunities. To design a business development strategy that suitable to both current situation and condition, it is necessary for corporation to develop insight into future customer and community needs; and identifying any core competence. Based on such a core competence, the corporation may develop newly core competence in accordance with strategy call design, leading to competence to create fundamentally, useful new business opportunities for customers in coming time. A successful business solution in such a business development is dependent on managerial competence to win a competition for 1) seize and intellectual leadership that is described in the Strategic Design; 2) establishing a future industrial structure by developing core competence and partnership network; 3) struggle for future position and a part of market by product and service differentiation and innovation. text |
