Summary: | Geostatistical reservoir characterization techniques promise to improve the economics of oil and gas production through the integration of seismic, petrophysical and geologic data. The methods are helpful in a variety of ways. They provide a general framework for integrating the petrophysical parameters measured at the wells with the less precise seismic information. With the advanced technology of seismic inversion and attribute, information about lithology and reservoir property will become more precisely. Combining those of methods give us not only an estimate of the reservoir property but also an estimate of the uncertainty the maps. Stochastic simulations can produce a large number of reservoir models that both honor the well log derived properties values and agree with the available seismic data. Examination of these maps can help in assessing the uncertainty in our models. These techniques can be used to create probabilistic reserve estimates and risk-weighted drilling prognoses. |
