| Summary: | Interior design is a field, which study the interaction between architecture and human whom do the activity inside the building. Interior design touches the lives of all of us in a very direct way. We all live in interiors and most of us work, study and shop inside various building and other enclosures. Interior design has an important role to support all the activity inside a space inside building, especially the public space which has a special activities such as a church; that is the necessity of sound conditioning in order to obtain the ideal condition of talking and hearing process, for supporting the good and effective preach. This research goal is to obtain the full picture of the interaction between space arrangement factor and the sound control factor inside the Jakarta Cathedral Church. And to know and understand interior design's role at Jakarta Cathedral Church not only on the philosophy and function context but also the relation to the ideal sound conditioning factor. This research is conducted by literature study, field observation (the interior elements analysis, experimental measurement, and numerical simulation) and interview with the building management of the Jakarta Cathedral Church. Further research on this paper is conducted by data analysis (quantitative & qualitative) based on the field study , discussion of synthesis about the relation between the interior design arrangement of Jakarta Cathedral Church with sound controlling aspect inside it. The result of this research shows that there is a relation between the space arrangement of Jakarta Cathedral Church and sound controlling factor. Space arrangement on a nave part of the church has a great influence to the sound phenomena which occurs when there are activities inside the church. Interior design aspects such as shape, material, space dimension have a strong relation with the effort of sound controlling inside Jakarta Cathedral Church. |
