The study to the imported electric light data indicated that every year Indonesia is inundated by illegal electric lamps. The existence of program of energy savings in lighting has created a more efficient usage of lamp energy to replace wasteful lamp energy. Increasing production of lamp in Indonesia with a certain lifespan will produce lamp wastes after the lamp lifespan end. The improvement of these factors referred as affects to increase the production of lamp waste in the coming years. Since these has become critical factors, recommendation is needed related to management of lamp waste in order to avoid issue of environmental contamination and health problems of lamp to wastes. This research conducted characterization of electric light waste that can be known further whether lamps contained electronic component or equipments is categorized as hazardouz waste. The result of the research is expected to give contribution in policy for handling of electric light waste and also as a recommendation and development for early management of electric light garbage to reach an environmentally sound management of lamp waste. The characterization obtained a composition of lamp that consist of metal and non metal material and various electronic components that have certain standard, forms and function. A large amount of lamp mass will provide significant result that can give financial advantage for recycling. Materials that is implied in a lamp, though in a small percentage, will be as dangerous in environment as it is thrown away without good processing. The TCLP test result that conducted to fluorescent lamp show all metal parameters under standard that specified good standard according to PP 18/1999 correlated to PP 85/1999 and also USEPA standard. Whereas fluorescent and mercury lamp have each level of lead (Pb) 45,019 mgs/L and 46,513 mgs/L that concentration meet the standard quality specified. text |
