Islamic modern arts are reality of life in Indonesia modern arts. Islamic Indonesia modern arts consists of meaning that it can bring value of Islam, because of it represent as genuine of culture. Modern arts that having Islamic spirit begun growth up in over 1970. The important point of movement of practical modern arts that having Indonesian Islamic spirit as specific and concept first offered at event of Istiqlal Festival in 1991 and Istiqlal Festival II in 1995. Through giant exhibition such as like that, modern arts that having Islamic spirits were reality present. And then, the questions are how Istiqlal Festival I and Istiqlal Festival II understanding the conceptual of modern art idea that having Islamic spirits in Indonesia modern art practical as whole? This research use approach arts criticism and sociology methodology with qualitative research about case study on spirit of Islam in modern arts at Istiqlal Festival I 1991 and II 1995. In modern arts exhibition at Istiqlal Festival I 1991 and II 1995, the art works that offered by moslem artists have representation produce idea represent of Islam, constrain of it and others fine arts media. No limitation about painting and art works in two dimensions are one of the examples. In other side, modern arts exhibition that having Islamic spirit in both of that event had offered new vision about the different and openness of aesthetical value of Islam in Indonesia that represent on many kind of art works.
